WHO: Bow Garden Club
WHAT: To Collect P.J.s and Books for Kids
WHEN: Now through November 10, 2017
WHERE: Baker Free Library, Bow Community Center, Town Offices
The Bow Garden Club, as well as other New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. (NHFGC) member clubs, are answering the call again this year to help provide warm and cuddly nightwear and nature-related books to children-in-need by asking its members and the general public to contribute warm pajamas and/or nature related books to their “Pajama Project”. The garden clubs' goal is to provide warm pajamas and nurturing books to children and youth who are currently living in shelters, are in foster care awaiting permanent homes and other children-in-need, helping to create a warm and more nurturing bedtime environment for vulnerable youngsters living under difficult circumstances.
Civic involvement and education are part of the Bow Garden Club's mission and that of its fellow NH Federation of Garden Clubs. By providing nature books, the clubs hope to raise the children's awareness about gardening and the wonders of nature through reading, while providing warm nightclothes to help keep them just a little extra warm this winter. Several thousand pairs of pajamas and as many books have been collected by NHFGC garden club members for distribution to shelters, group homes and other areas of need around the state since they first became involved with the program seven years ago. The Bow Garden Club selects a different area charity each year to receive the pajamas and books they collect in October and November.
Collection boxes for PJ's and books are in place in the lobby of the Baker Free Library, the Bow Community Center and the Town Offices until November 10th. All sizes are needed, from infants to teens.
Anyone who is interested in making a monetary donation that would be used to purchase additional pajamas should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (603) 229-1990. Thank you.
