The Trial is over Let the Recycling Commence

The trial was run to see what cost savings the Town may realize if the recycling program was discontinued until the market for recycling stabilizes. The trial period of running one truck for collection of both waste streams has now concluded, and recycling will resume.

The town is continuing to review options for recycling. In the meantime, to ensure that our program is successful, please ensure that all items in our recycling carts comply with Pinard's recycling guidelines. This means NO plastic bags, plastic utensils, Styrofoam or scrap metal such, pots, pans or hangers. If you are not sure whether an item is recyclable, it is better to throw it in the solid waste cart in order to avoid contamination. If a load has more than 5% contamination with items that are considered non-recyclable, it may be rejected by the recycling facility and the entire truckload will be sent to the landfill. PLEASE review the new flyer with guidelines to identify which items will be considered recycling contamination. You can also identify whether items are recyclable at To assist residents in understanding and compliance with the new guidelines, Pinard may be inspecting the contents of individual recycling carts and providing notice to residents whose recycling carts contain non-recyclable items.

Please review the new flyer from Pinard Waste on updated Recycling items.
