IMPORTANT Election Protocols for upcoming Elections

Voting 2018-2

The Town with the help of the Secretary of State is implementing various measures to protect health and safety of our Election workers, Town employees and the voters on election day at the Community Center for the State Primary on Tuesday September 8th and for the General Election on Tuesday November 3rd. Every precaution will be taken as per the CDC guidelines.

To help minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19, The State is providing the Towns with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all election workers and Town officials, face shields, sneeze guards, table screens, gloves, masks and hand sanitizers. In addition, the State will also provide each Voter with single use pencils, disposable voting booth paper mats with instructions and single use masks.

The State has set up Zoom meeting every two weeks with Town Clerks, Supervisors and Moderators to tackle every issue and concern. The office of the Secretary of State is working on flyers that will be mailed out to every registered voter in the state with all the information and instructions regarding voting during the Pandemic.

At the Town level, an election group that includes the Bow Town Clerk, the Town and School Moderators, Supervisors of the Checklist, representatives of the Board of Selectmen and the heads of various Town Departments have been meeting on a regular basis to brain storm ideas to assure that both elections run as smoothly as possible.

Some of the major changes that will be implemented are:

  • Entrance and Check in lines will be re-routed through the old fire truck bays so as to protect the voters from inclement weather and to keep the lines within the building.
  • Voters standing in the check -in line will be required to maintain social distancing.
  • Voters will be asked to maintain social distancing as they mark and cast their ballots.
  • Better handicap accessible entry and exits.
  • Voting booths and voting screens will be separated so as to maintain social distancing.
  • The polling place, voting booths, tables and door knobs will be cleaned periodically during the day.
  • All election workers will have masks, gloves, face shields, sneeze guards and hand sanitizers.
  • There will be no community tables within the Community Center.
  • No return to undeclared table.

We also hope that most voters will take advantage of Absentee Voting. If you have concerns about COVID-19, you can vote by Absentee Ballot. Absentee ballots have already come in and are being mailed out to Voters who have sent in their requests. You can track your absentee ballot at

As plans continue to evolve and change, we will try our best to keep the Voters informed. Please check the Elections page on the Town of Bow website at for updates or call the Town Clerks office at 603-223-3980
