In spring 2025, the Bow Police Department established its Drone Unit, a specialized team of officers trained and FAA Part 107-certified for public-safety small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) operations, including nighttime flight authorization. Sergeant Robert Welch, supervises the drone unit and utilizes the Autel Evo Max 4T platform to enhance departmental response capabilities.

The Drone Unit provides critical aerial support across a wide range of missions, including search-and-rescue operations, locating missing persons, documenting traffic collisions and crime scenes, searching for evidence in hard-to-reach areas, assisting at fire and HAZMAT incidents, and monitoring traffic and crowds during large community events. This technology increases officer safety, improves situational awareness, and allows for faster, more effective resolutions, ultimately serving and protecting the Bow community with greater precision and efficiency.
